How To Sell

We are not advocates of what is commonly called "The Hard Sell."

Do You Have What It Takes?

Today, every small business owner needs a professional Web site that will represent them well.  It must be affordable and reliable, and enable them to easily keep it updated.  The market exists.

  1. Do you currently have contacts with owners of small businesses and can you win their confidence?

  2. Can you professionally approach a Small Business Owner, hand them some first quality point of sale literature, and patiently (over time) forge a friendship (trust relationship) that will create the fertile soil for a future sale?

  3. Do you possess the willingness to follow our suggestions in the sales process - to ensure that you make friends instead of enemies?  In other words, are you teachable?

If you can answer "YES" to the three questions above, then you have what it takes and we welcome you to join us!

Here are a few quick guidelines to follow in selling MyBizWebs:

  • Do NOT use SPAM (don't buy email lists or try to send emails to people you don't know about out program) NO. NO. NO. Don't do it!

  • Start by approaching business owners that you already know.  The #1 element in a buying decision is "Consumer Confidence" or that one word, "TRUST".  If someone knows you AND trusts you, then you already have the way clear to make a sale.  If they know you and DON'T trust you, they will NOT buy anything from you.  If you are generally NOT trusted by business people in your community, please do NOT become one of our affiliates!

  • Distribute your Business Cards liberally to small business owners- and ask for their cards in return.  Tell them quickly what your are doing and then ask them if they would like more information.  It is more important to get their business card than to give them yours, because they are busy, may lose your card or will forget.  You will need to call them back and remind them of the meeting...

Here are a few examples of "Ice Breakers" that will work - things to say as you exchange business cards with them.

"I help small business owners market their businesses online with a Web site editing program that works great, is easy to use and is a great value."

"I help small business owners create or improve their Web sites and provide a FREE Web site self-evaluation tool from my Web site."

"Do you know the top 3 reasons every small business owner should have a Web site today?

    1. Because it is a logical extension of all of your other marketing,

    2. Because consumers tend to use the internet today like they used to use phone books, and

    3. Because the nature of the internet, coupled with a properly developed and marketed Web site, will provide the absolute best ROI (return on investment) of any marketing media available.

  • Approach businesses directly and offer the owner a business card and a direct sales card  - collect their contact information and get out of their way.  Do NOT try and sell them something on the spot, just start to develop a trust relationship with them.  Mention the small business marketing aids available at your Web site.

Keep in mind that most small business owners are NOT thrilled that someone has come to them trying to sell them something.  Their is a reason small business owners "hate" salesmen.  Do NOT become something that they hate or you will lose your opportunity to help them.

  • Address your cards and mail them to hand-picked small business owners, mark your calendar, and call them the day after they should have recieved the card - introduce yourself and ask them if there is anything you can help with now.  If they say "no", then make a note of your conversation and stop by with a promotional gift sometime the following week.  - A note pad and pen or "The Top Ten Marketing Tips for Small Business Owners" or one of the other articles that you can print from your Web site.

  • Join a business referrals group or a business club or two or more.  Be sure and understand the difference between a networking club and a service club.  Service clubs are looking for your volunteer time and money and may not necessarily help you grow your business.

Networking with other business owners is ALWAYS a more effective, afforadable and pleasant way to get leads for new business than anything else that you can do. (Is is cheaper in the long run and works better than ANY advertising that you can do)
